What started out as a small, downtown festival showcasing Kentís cultural diversity has turned into a huge community event drawing thousands of visitors, so big the Kent International Festival moved to ShoWare Center (625 W. James St., Kent) last year to accommodate the many vendors and visitors who wanted to participate.

This yearís free family-friendly festival is Saturday, May 30. The Kent International Festival kicks off at ShoWare at 9:30 a.m. with Generations Walking Together, sponsored by Kent4Health. Mayor Suzette Cooke, Kent City Council members and community members and guests will walk rain or shine. Cultural attire is encouraged. The remainder of the event will be on site and will feature cultural music and performances, educational booths, an international food court, and more. Free parking is available at ShoWare and at the Regional Justice Center, across the street.

This is one of Kentís most popular events and a great opportunity for Kent residents and visitors to meet their neighbors, and share and learn more about their languages, cultures and backgrounds. For more information, including a schedule of the dayís events, visit KentInternationalFestival.com.

If you only visit Kent once this year, this is the event you donít want to miss!
