Music, dance, martial arts, gymnastics, indoor playground and more. If you’re planning a fall visit to Kent, and want to plan indoor activities for your kids, the Kent Commons community center is the place to be! As part of the city’s parks and recreation program, Kent Commons (525 Fourth Ave. N., Kent, WA 98032) has LOTS of programs and activities for kids and adults.

Here are just a few of your choices:

Indoor Park: The Kent Commons Indoor Park is open 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Designed for children from 10 months to 4 ˝ years of age, the Kent Commons gymnasium is just like an outdoor park with toys, balls and playground equipment, but inside to give infants and toddlers a place to play where it is dry and safe. Parents are required to supervise their children in the Indoor Park (max. of 3 kids per parent please). There is a $2 cost per visit + $1 for each additional child. Plan to be in town for more than a few days? Buy a 10-visit pass for $15. Call 253-856-5000 or visit the Indoor Park online for more details or questions.

Sports and Fitness: If you want to stay active while in Kent, the Kent Commons community center features handball/racquetball courts, a fully-equipped conditioning room with weight machines, treadmills, stair climbers and exercise bikes, a mini-gym for exercise and dance classes, and a double gym for volleyball, basketball, etc.

Events and Trade Shows: Kent Commons is a great venue for local events. For example, the Commons will host a Model Horse Show Oct. 24-25, a Train Show on Nov. 14, the Greater Seattle Toy Show on Nov. 21, and the annual Holiday Bazaar on Dec. 4-5! Check the events calendar for other community center events.
