For over 50 years, Chicago’s famous Second City has performed social Holidazed & Confused blog #6and political satire in the form of scripted sketches, music and improvisation. This year the Spotlight Series brings Second City to Kent to keep the audience laughing throughout the festive holiday season.

Kent Winterfest

Sat., Dec. 5

Corner of Smith St. and 2nd Ave.

Join the Kent Lions Club and CLICK 98.9 for Kent Winterfest, a Christmas gift to the Kent community from the Kent Lions Club. Christmas tree lighting ceremony synchronized with music, free snacks, hot cocoa, hot cider, popcorn and more. Follow the Santa parade, enjoy holiday story time at the Kent Library, decorate your own cookies, ornaments and Christmas cards, and enjoy live music from local choirs and school bands.

Spotlight Series: Magical Strings 29th Annual Celtic Yuletide Concert

The Boulding Family’s musical celebration of the holiday season is a treasured tradition in Kent. Once again, Pam and Philip Boulding are joined14MagicalStrings_web blog 6b by their children, grandchildren, and guests for an afternoon of enchanting Yuletide music. The Bouldings perform on Celtic harps, hammered dulcimers, whistles, strings, percussion, and harp-like instruments from around the world.  Guests add Irish step dancing, drumming, and storytelling for a festive and memorable performance.

33rd Annual Christmas Rush Fun Run

10K at 9:50 a.m.

5K at 10:00 a.m.

Hogan Park at Russell Road

Runners and walkers, get ready for this annual holiday fun run. The race starts and ends at Hogan Park at Russell Road Park. If you are a past participant, you’ll get a registration form in the mail. If not, you can get one online. What a fun way to burn off those pre-holiday calories!
