In 2003, Kent, Washington was named Sportstown USA by Sports Illustrated
Though that was 13 years ago, Kent has maintained this tradition of
being a sports-loving town, including offering more than 500 sports
programs for every age, interest and ability in its schools and
throughout the community. Thatís one of the many reasons these four
teams call Kent home
The Seattle Thunderbirds is a youth hockey team that plays as part of
the Western Hockey League. They practice at the Kent Valley Ice Centre,
play at ShoWare Center, attend Kent-Meridian High School or area
colleges, and live with Kent billet families during the hockey season.
The team also participates in a local mentorship program through the
Kent School District.
Seattle Ravens: As part
of the Northern Pacific Hockey league, the Seattle Ravens are a tier 3
junior hockey team. They play home games at the Kent Valley Ice Centre
and away games throughout the area in Bellingham, Tri-Cities and other
New to Kent is the Tacoma Stars indoor soccer team. Playing home games
at ShoWare Center, the team travels across the country for away games in
California, Missouri, Nevada and other locales. While many of the
players are locally-based, some hail from as far away as Maryland. We
are pleased the Tacoma Stars call Kent home.
Seattle Mist: The
Seattle Mist is part of the lingerie football league. Though they have
an abbreviated scheduled, they play their home games at Kentís ShoWare
Center, delighting area football fans who can enjoy their favorite sport
in the NFLís off season.
